Its been a long wait but finally Porsche’s new Panamera Hybrid cars are coming out of the factory and delivering to customers in the UK.

It succeeds the earlier 4 S E-Hybrid with a 31-mile electric range and combined fuel consumption of 113mpg, together with an official 0-62mph time of 4.6sec and a 173mph top speed.

At the heart of the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid is a newly developed petrol-electric drivetrain that is also set to appear in next year’s Cayenne E-Hybrid. It uses Porsche’s recently unveiled twin-turbocharged 2.9-litre V6 petrol engine tuned to 325bhp and 332lb ft, in combination with an electric motor mounted in the front of the gearbox capable of delivering up to 134bhp and 295lb ft.

Together, the combustion engine and electric motor provide combined system outputs of 456bhp and 516lb ft. This [...]

All New Porsche 718 Cayman unveiled at Beijing Motor Show

The reworked two-seat coupé benefits from many of the mid-life modifications brought to the 718 Boxster

The new Porsche 718 Cayman has been revealed at the Beijing motor show – following the recent unveiling of its mechanically identical soft-top sibling, the 718 Boxster.

The reworked two-seat coupé benefits from many of the mid-life modifications brought to the 718 Boxster, including a newly developed 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine in place of the existing model’s naturally aspirated six-cylinder unit.

Due to reach the UK in September, the 296bhp 718 Cayman is priced at £39,878, while the 345bhp 2.5-litre 718 Cayman S is pitched at £48,834, representing a respective £184 more and £51 less than the models they replace. It is the first time the coupé has been priced below the roadster, which starts from £41,739, echoing the 911 model range.

Reflecting the styling changes brought to the 718 Boxster, the 718 Cayman receives a revised front bumper featuring larger cooling ducts, a more structured shape and new indicator repeater lights.

Along the flanks, the air duct [...]

Porsche launches new 718 Boxster – Welcome (back) to the turbo-four future

Porsche replaces the flat-six set up the Boxster has housed for 20 years with a new turbocharged flat-four.
Despite the changes to its exterior being best described as subtle, the Porsche Boxster has been subjected to its most far-reaching update since making its debut 20 years ago. The adoption of four-cylinder engines will be tough for some purists to swallow, but what these new units lack in ultimate character, they make up for with scorching performance and decent efficiency.

Better still, the tweaks to the suspension and steering have made the 718 Boxster even sharper and more involving to drive. Few cars at any price are as entertaining as this mid-engined Porsche on a twisting back road. Elsewhere, the updated looks give the Boxster even more visual appeal, while the interior still sets the standard for fit and finish. The Porsche is also surprisingly practical, thanks to its roomy cabin and two spacious boots.

The new Porsche Boxster is available to pre-order now at G.T. Vehicles, contact us on 0208 838 6789 for more details.

Jaguar’s new F-Pace is a serious rival to the Audi Q5

Jaguar launches first SUV, arguably the most important car in the brand's recent history.

Jaguar’s new F-Pace is a serious rival to the Audi Q5.

The new Jaguar F-Pace is arguably the most important car in Jaguar’s recent history. It’s the first SUV Jaguar has ever made and with rivals like the Volvo XC60, Porsche Macan and BMW X3 offering excellent choices for drivers and families alike, the F-Pace has to be pretty special to stand out from the crowd.

When the F-Pace was officially unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year, it generated a great deal of interest: all eyes were on Jaguar to see if it could successfully break out into the lucrative SUV market while making a car that still managed to be quintessentially ‘Jaguar’.

The F-Pace closely resembles the handsome Jaguar C-X17 concept car that was revealed way back in 2013. Now, with full prices and specifications released for the F-Pace, we’ve got everything you need to know about the first car Jaguar has [...]

Land Rover Defender production ends after 68 years

The final Land Rover Defender left the JLR plant in Solihull on the 29th January

The last ever classic Land Rover Defender has left the production line in Birmingham.

It’s the end of an era for factory workers in Solihull, marking the last of the vehicles in production for 67 years.

The iconic British 4×4 has been popular from farmers to members of the royal family, as well as celebs like Beatles singer Paul McCartney.

Since 1948, it has sold more than 2 million units.

But now Indian owners Tata want to upgrade the Defender model.

The company took over Jaguar and Land Rover in 2008, while both were making losses, and has already made changes to the upmarket Range Rover line.

At the moment the Defender is mostly built by hand, taking 56 hours. This makes it more expensive than other vehicles which rely more on machines for manufacture.

It was first built after WWII, with rationing still in place. Steel was scarce so lightweight aluminium was used for the body instead.

Last weekend I visited the Classic and Sports Car Show held at Alexandra Palace in North London. It was quite an intimate show, with an emphasis on the best of British, and had some quite stunning examples of classic cars. The show was mostly made up of dealer stands rather than collectors exhibits, so it was interesting to see the kinds of prices that such vehicles are fetching now.

My personal classic car favourite is the Jaguar E-Type and there were lots of beautiful examples there including the original vehicle used at the model’s Geneva launch! Also, seeing an old Alfa Romeo Montreal bought a smile to my face as my father had one locked away in a garage for years when I was a child. It was his pride and joy for a long time and we still have pictures of it in the office today!
